The Icon Bar: News and features: Font Site Closed

Font Site Closed

FontsYep, the font site, AKA Harry Decker's Font Emporium, has been taken offline. As owner of the iconbar.com domain I recently received a legal nastygram trying to exhort 25000 euros for certain converted Windows fonts from the LinoType Library in Germany. Obviously as I'm only providing hosting I'm not liable to pay, and Harry is nowhere to be found (which is probably just as well), so the closure of the site is the only recourse at this juncture.

I would suggest that if people want specific "freeware" fonts, they ask on the forums, and I'm sure those with the paticular fonts would share.

That is a really big shame. Makes me rather glad that I used a high speed connection to download the entire thing a year or so ago and burn it to CD.

Although it would probably be a lot of work could a volunteer not find out which specific fonts are in question and remove those from the website and still keep the rest online?
