RISC OS 4.02 discontinued

Posted by Andrew Duffell on 14:03, 15/4/2005 | , ,

riscos402RISCOS Ltd have written in to inform us that RISC OS 4.02 is to be discontinued as soon as they have sold all their existing stock.

RISC OS 4.02 was the first incarnation of RISC OS offered by RISCOS Ltd, but was last year superseded by RISC OS 4.39 ROMs which were based on the improvements from the Select scheme.

Paul Middleton of ROL told us "existing stocks of RISC OS 4.02 ROMs are being offered at the special final price of £75 for the full ROM and CD package (including free RISC OS 3 PRM CD) and £65 for the ROM only version." he continued "To further encourage upgrades to the newer RISC OS 4.39 ROM sets a limited number of 100 sets is being offered at the Special Price of £99. This offer is only for users upgrading from RISC OS 3.x or 4.02."

No flowers.

A bit of a negative slant to anybody passing through here isn't it?
RISC OS is continuing not dying.

You would perhaps have preferred the alternative :(

I would have thought it was pretty plain.

The alternative being that RISC OS has not continued not dying.

[sigh] Some people read way too much in to a simple piece of clip art.

APDL - what planet are you on?!
I said RISC OS is continuing.
Then for some reason you make the inferrence that I would prefer the "alternative" which you say is "not continuing not dying". That's exactly the opposite of what I am saying!

Is it not infact untrue that you do not wish to not see RISC OS continuing not to not die - or not?

Now my head is in a knot. :P

Obviously there's some alternative to "not dying" that I'm not aware of.

The alternative to "not dying" is surely to die.
But as RISC OS is not actually "living", does it really matter?

Long live RISC OS.
RIP RO v4.02, v4.01, v.4.00, v3.x, v2.x

Down with Microsoft

Monkeyson - continuing rather than dying which is what I said I thought the image might suggest.
Really! ;)

I think "RISC OS is continuing not dying" can be read in two different ways:

1. RO is continuing; it's*not* dying
2. RO is continuing not to die (the implication being that it should die)

Is it possible that andrew wrote the former and apdl read the latter?

I'll go along with that with one caveat.

It can only have the first meaning if there's some punctuation, which is what you had to include. Without the punctuation (as the original) it's unambiguous.

No, I don't. Without puncuation it can only have one meaning.
