Not so Hot Shopping

Uffenkamp Computer Systeme of Germany have just launched an online store aimed at users of Acorn hardware in the UK. The store stocks a very wide range of software titles but is sadly rather pricey and stocks none of the latest titles. For example, there's no sign of Syndicate or Doom from R-Comp, both of which are now over a year old on the RISC OS platform. Even worse, the site does not use secure servers so any card details submitted are easy prey to hackers. Those wishing to purchase must also do so by Mastercard, no other card is accepted at present.

Presentation wise, the site just doesn't meet expectations. It is about as colourful as school loo roll and features no descriptions of products and only a very primitive shopping cart system. In these days when we can even buy our toothpaste online, surely the RISC OS market can do better.

See it for yourself at: http://www.ucs.de/cgi-bin/ukshp/shop.cgi.
